Our story

Ground by glaciers, found by the sea

Along the coast of British Columbia, the retreat of ancient glaciers left beds of very fine clay, carried to the shoreline by the rivers and the tide. Tideveil gathers this glacial clay, sun-dries and fine-mills it, and bottles it as a pure powder. To use it you simply mix a little with water into a smooth paste and let it sit on the face before rinsing. The clay draws gently and is left raw and unscented — nothing added, nothing refined away. It is a skincare ritual, not a medicine and not intended to address any skin condition.

How it's made

The clay is harvested from the glacial beds along the coast, dried in the sun, then fine-milled to a smooth powder. It is screened for a consistent, soft texture and bottled without fragrance, colour or preservatives. Nothing is added to it.

How to use it

Mix one part clay with two parts water into a smooth paste. Apply an even layer to a clean, damp face, leave for a few minutes until it begins to feel firm, then rinse with warm water and pat dry. Use once or twice a week, and keep the powder dry between uses.

Good to know

How do I store the powder?

Keep it dry in its jar with the lid on, away from steam and moisture. As long as it stays dry, the powder keeps for a long time. Mix only the amount you need for each use.

Does it contain anything else?

No. The clay is sun-dried, fine-milled and bottled with no fragrance, colour, preservatives or other additions. You mix it with water yourself, so you know exactly what is on your face.

Is it for problem skin?

No. It is a skincare product — a mask for an everyday ritual. It is not a medicine and not intended to address any skin concern. If you have a skin concern, check with a health professional.

Why is there a coarse and a fine grade?

The fine grade is soft and smooth, ideal for a gentle everyday mask. The coarse grade is slightly grittier, so it adds a light exfoliating feel. Both are the same coastal clay, milled differently.
